So far you probably know that losing weight is not an easy thing. In fact, it can be a difficult challenge for many people. So, here comes a little weight loss guide to avoid things that could make you lose control and start eating. Please follow this guide if you wish to succeed!
- Don’t go for the most difficult diet you can find
This is a very common mistake to make. Many people decide in their moments of desperation to follow some very strict diet and then you know what? They fail! Please don’t rush into a diet that may be too hard for you. If you don’t have any previous dieting experience and if you’re not 100% sure you can stick with that diet, then choose some other diet.
- Don’t lose touch with reality
OK let’s be clear about one thing – you cannot really expect things to happen overnight. So, when starting with weight loss – start small, but be prepared to go far. If you hear someone saying that he lost a large number of pounds in a very short time, don’t make it your goal to match his performance. Don’t compare yourself with other people. You are unique. Keep in mind that diet results are different from one person to another.
- Don’t go to the gym every day
Another common mistake is to use the enthusiasm of the first days to hit the gym every single day. This is not going to help you at all. Do you know why? Because your body needs some time to heal and expand the muscle mass after each training session. Going to the gym every day interferes with this natural process. Your body needs some time to adjust, don’t rush anything. Relax… By the way – a week of non-stop training will never offset 10 or 20 years of couch-potato lifestyle.
- Don’t skip meals
People have a false belief that if they skip a meal or two, that it could help them lose weight faster. Wrong! What they don’t understand is that dieting is all about eating the right food and not starving yourself. Eat at least 3 meals a day.
- Don’t go so hard on calories
You have to be careful with cutting down on calories. Cut down on too many calories and very soon your body will start storing anything it possibly can. This certainly IS NOT the best way to lose weight.
- Don’t let your emotions drive you
Aside from the eagerness that drives people to check their weight every day, there are other emotions that can influence your dieting. If you know you’re used to reaching out for snacks or ice cream when you are bored, frustrated or angry, well then you should first deal with these issues and not allow them to come between you and your purpose.
- Don’t check the weight scales everyday
Everybody is looking forward to see the confirmation of his/her efforts in the shape of lost pounds, but you should not let this drive you to checking your weight obsessively. If you check if too often, you will just be dissapointed. Daily fluctuations of your weight will have you depressed and ready to quit dieting. This is something you don’t want to happen.
- Don’t deny yourself your favourite foods
You have to remember that diets are just food control-methods. Diets are not prisons. You should be comfortable with your diet. Treats are a great way of raising your willpower and determination. So what if you eat something forbidden once in a while, especially if that food is a favourite of yours? If such treats are not frequent, then they will make no difference in the long run, you can be sure. Don’t be so hard on yourself.
- Don’t refuse to seek help
Not everyone was born with iron will and nerves of steel. We are all different. If you need advice or help, don’t be ashamed and don’t hesitate to ask it from your friends or professionals. When people have a problem with their health, they seek professional assistance, nothing wrong with that. Don’t try to solve all problems by yourself if you can’t.
- Don’t rely on your willpower alone
Remember – you have to use your head as well. If you wish to know how much you eat on a daily basis, then please write everything on a piece of paper and then analyze that list for things that should not be there. Very often your hunger can creep up on you and make you eat something you shouldn’t eat at all. So – be honest with yourself, keep a clear head and write it down.
