1 How to stop snacking at work?

We all have been there – you show up for work full of great intentions for that day. You even promise to yourself that you won’t give in to temptation and not a single sugary treat will pass through your lips.

“It’s all going good so far”, you think to yourself. However, as soon as that thought comes into your head, your stomach rumbles. You immediately feel the hunger and assume it’s nearly lunch time. Then you look at the clock and you realize that it’s only 10:30am – the mid morning munchies have arrived!

“You can still last until lunch”, you tell yourself, but your stomach thinks differently. You try to think about something else, but the only thing your mind wants to think about is chocolate and cakes. You simply cannot last any longer and you run to the vending machine – and there’s not a single healthy thing on a show! You give in and tell yourself that tomorrow it will be different, tomorrow you will not snack at work (yeah, like that’ll be happening).

Snacking at work is a big problem every single day for many people around the world. Did you know that average person spends $45 on snacks every month?

Well, it doesn’t have to be like this anymore. There are ways to stop snacking at work. The office doesn’t have to be the place where you surrender all your willpower.

Here are 5 tips to help you cut on those sweet treats at your desk:

Stay calm – Stress is one of the biggest reasons why snacking is so hard to control. If you stay calm and relaxed and plan your work efficiently, it will be easier for you to say no to those unhealthy snacks.

Have plenty of fruits – If you manage to have a supply of fruit on your desk at all times, you will have an alternative option to chocolate, cakes and potato chips. What’s even better – you won’t have to leave your desk to get the fruits!

Don’t carry any loose change – This is extremely useful if you have a vending machine at work. If you don’t carry spare change in your pockets, that means you won’t be able to use the vending machine and no matter how much you crave for that chocolate snack bar, you won’t be able to have it!

Keep yourself busy – No doubt that you often snack if you are bored most of the time. If you manage to keep yourself busy, then you won’t even think about snacking. Always make sure that you have tasks to do in order to keep your mind off those sweet treats.

Invest in an appetite suppressant – This is one of the tricks that could be useful. Appetite suppressants are small diet pills that you take every day and they will send signals to the brain that you’re full and do not need any more food. Appetite suppressants are perfectly safe, they will help you get your willpower back and put you in control of those unhealthy snacks.

2 FDA warns about Hydroxycut

You have probably heard this one, but it won’t do harm to repeat it once again:

Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned consumers to immediately stop using Hydroxycut, a line of dietary supplements marketed as an aid to weight loss, body sculpting and athletic performance.

The FDA has linked these products to 23 known cases of liver damage (including one death), 4 reports of seizures and 46 reports of cardiovascular events — from palpitations to heart attack — since 2002.

3 Health tip: Move more

Make a special effort to find different ways to move your body more throughout the day. If you have a choice between climbing stair and using an escalator, choose stairs! Walk your dog, chase your kids, toss balls with friends etc… You see, ANYTHING that moves your limbs is not only a great fitness tool, but it’s a big stress buster as well. Start with small steps – you don’t have to spend an hour in a gym or do a 45-minute dance class… The important thing here is to make an EFFORT to move more day by day. Just do it – you’ll feel great.
