How I Gained Back My Youthfulness After Being Overweight
My name is Jannine and I’d like to tell you about my weight loss success story. When I was in high school, I played volleyball. I was fit and handsome. I never imagined I would have weight problems later on. Nothing prepared me for the bad news about me being overweight. One day my doctor told me that my weight and cholesterol were too high, and that I needed to lose weight. This might not sound like a big deal now, but that really was a rude awakening for me. I had always thought of myself as athletic and healthy, despite the extra pounds that I carried around!
I hated the way I looked!
When I was in my teens, I thought that all the exercising that I got justified my eating lots of ice cream with lunch and candy bars that I had for afternoon snacks. Well, the thing is that I stopped playing sports years ago, and I was still eating lots of high-fat and sugary foods. You can only imagine – the pounds quickly added up! That day in doctor’s office I’ll never forget. I weighted in at 165 lbs and I was told that I wasn’t healthy at all. You can only imagine how sad I was at that moment! 2 months later, I was struggling to zip up a size 14 gown for New Year’s Eve… I broke down in tears. I hated the way I looked.
New Year’s Resolution
On that day I made a resolution to lose 40 lbs. First I had to stop eating fast foods and fried foods. But I didn’t know what was I supposed to do next. I was confused because I never paid much attention to nutrition and I knew absolutely nothing about dieting… So recognizing what to do next was harder. Fortunately, I had family and friends around me, who offered me their support and knowledge. A good friend of mine Angela offered me one advice: instead of eating fat-laden fried egg and bacon sandwiches, she suggested cereal with fat-free milk and fruit for breakfast. For lunch, she suggested a turkey sandwich and an apple. She also showed me what reasonable portions of food looked like. My dad also had some great advices: “No food is forbidden for you, my dear. You should not deprive yourself all the time, but you cannot eat everything you want.”
The moment I started eating “real” foods instead of junk calories, I was much more satisfied with myself. My weight started coming off almost immediately! Over the time I became used to eating smaller portions of food and I customized my diet more. I started to like eating smaller meals and portions, because that kept me from getting overly hungry.
Back on the track!
About 1 month later, I joined a gym, because I knew I couldn’t count only on a good diet. I knew I had to change my lifestyle and become more active… After all, I played volleyball in high school; therefore I know how playing sports can have a positive influence on your health! So now, I went to the gym for 3 times a week and I would ride a stationary bicycle or walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes. Today I still work out 3-4 times a week and walk about 2 hours every day! I never thought I would do all this. I came to a conclusion that after some time, you start to love going outside and exercising.
Weight Loss Supplements
As I was always an open-minded person, I wanted to try anything that would help me lose weight. That included weight loss supplements. A friend of mine introduced me to weight loss pills. Although a lot of people advised me not to use them, I still went on and researched a little bit. That’s how I met Gabriel, I read some articles on his website. I contacted him and very soon we both agreed to do a research of weight loss products and present our report on this website. By the end of 2006, I was down to 120 lbs, and my cholesterol levels were normal. I admit that I couldn’t have done it without support of my family and friends. My advice to you
Find a role model. Ask a friend, neighbor, or co-worker how she reached her weight loss goals. Try to follow your instincts, but also be prepared to listen to others who have successfully lost weight. Read our articles and guides on the best weight loss methods and try to follow our advices. I know how hard weight loss process can be, but you can do it! Trust me. I’m a living proof!
