What is it?
I think today everybody understands push-ups and sit-ups. Those are simple and straightforward exercises. But in order to get a fit looking body, you will need to go beyond simple exercises and put more muscles to work. Keep in mind that your dieting will only take you half way through your goal. The rest will have to come from exercises that burn out fat and build stronger muscles. One really good exercise that can be easily performed at home by anyone is the squat thrust exercise.
How do you perform it?
In order to perform squat thrust, you have to put your hands on the floor, shoulder width apart, with the legs stretched, just like in the normal push up position. Now, from this position, you must bring both legs forward, underneath your torso, by bending your knees and thrusting forward. The 3rd step is to return your legs to the original position with the same quick and powerful movements. That’s it!
Also, you can perform this exercise by bringing your right leg forward, in a position that resembles that of a runner at the start line. After that, thrust both legs simultaneously, the right leg going back and your left leg coming forward to replace the right one. Then thrust again, bringing the right leg forward and pushing your left leg back.
What are the benefits?
The squat thrust exercise is meant to work out the glutes, the hamstrings and the quads, with some benefits for the triceps. However, you need to be careful not to trip and fall and make sure that your hands are firmly keeping your whole body in the correct position. Go for 15-20 reps in every workout session and you’ll be showing some great legs to anyone who wants to look. You might already know this, but ladies are impressed by men with muscular legs and you really don’t need me to tell you how men feel about women with good-looking legs!
As a final word of advice, I would like to tell you that all these exercises must be helped by keeping a close eye on your food intake. That means that junk food, snacks, sodas have to go, and fruits, veggies and other healthy foods must take their place. It’s a must if you would like to benefit from the squat thrust exercise!
